Introducing Rita's Blog

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

Welcome!

My name is Rita Sandquist and I graduated as a certified massage therapist from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2007. I grew up in a big family with a large generation gap, best described by saying my Grandparents were in their 80s when I was born. In my childhood I had a unique view of the physical and emotional challenges that my Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles faced in their older adult years. My family encouraged me to be involved in caring for my Grandparents by teaching me to provide gentle massage and finding other resources for pain and stress relief to live the best quality of life possible. This unique childhood experience has inspired me to make it my mission to help older adults live their best lives.

In my clinic I provide massage tailored for the older adult. I target physical and emotional stress that have built up in muscles and tissue over the years and is holding them back from doing activities they love. My goal for this blog is to offer resources and information I believe older adults should have access to. Some of this information may be new and some might be familiar but presented in a new and different perspective. Everyone is unique and I want to offer insights to help you make the decision of what resources are best for you.

Watch for my next blog entry when I begin breaking down what to expect from a professional massage session..
